A SOOC – Post Processing Share {Winston-Salem, Photographer}

I tend to share Before and Afters on my Facebook page, but today I thought I would post here on the Blog for all to see and to Educate a little on how I get my final image.

I’m a Nikon Girl, I shoot Manual, I shoot RAW and I use ACR. I have LightRoom but prefer to use ACR.

What is RAW?

What is a JPEG?

SO…. It goes like this:

  • The top image is SOOC – Meaning: “Strait Out Of Camera” Definition:
Photographers use this word as shorthand for “Straight Out of Camera”. This refers to NOT using Photoshop or any image editing software as of yet. Often used online and not in real life, to give quick information to other photographers.
Tim: Awesome picture Steve! Is that Photoshoppped?
Steve: “No, that’s SOOC”
I try to get it right IN CAMERA as much as possible. When shooting on location your Light constantly changes. It is very challenging at times because you are constantly having to change settings.
  • The 2nd Image is my typical editing routine.
  • The 3rd is an action ran on the 2nd Image.
  • The last is a BW action I use on the 2nd Image.
There ya go. That’s it!  This is one of the many reasons why it takes time to deliver you your images.

Love this! That’s my motto. Get it right in the camera first. Treat it like film. 🙂

Beautiful photograph!
